The Target School Library Makeover program has been an exciting and rewarding project to be a part of and watching the Pillsbury Elementary School library transformation was amazing. This year, we were responsible for the design of 6 of the 42 libraries that will be completed in 2011, 4 out of the Minneapolis office, 1 in Arizona, and 1 in Madison. We have been involved on the flooring and furniture ordering side of the project from the start.

Redesigning Philanthropy: Using Architectural Design to Help the Homeless
Minneapolis, MN – When times are tough, People Serving People understands that a business may put their support on hiatus for a while until they have the ability to contribute to its shelter for homeless families. But that is not the case with the International Interior Design Association (IIDA). This association of 225 talented individuals has found a way to redesign philanthropy by combining their talents to transform a blank‐walled homeless shelter into a comforting and inviting space for struggling families to unwind and catch their breath. The funds for the makeover were donated by Target as part of the retailer’s commitment to helping children read proficiently and plans to donate $500 million by the end of 2015 to support education.

Bancroft School Library
As Dr. Seuss puts it: “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
But before kids can read, they need a library to enjoy and, of course, books. That’s where Target comes in.
Through our School Library Makeover program – in its third year – we’re helping kids across the country discover their passion for reading.
Bancroft Elementary School in Minneapolis kicks off this year’s efforts – it’s the first of 32 extreme Target School Library Makeovers to be unveiled. (more…)

Target School Library Makeover
Target team members will improve over 1,500 school libraries in 2010, with the support of
First Book and
Heart of America. Some libraries with the greatest needs—more than 40 so far—have received a complete School Library Makeover.
Target Commercial Interiors is proud of its role in providing furnishings for these unique, creative and highly functional school library makeovers.
Read about Ocoee Middle School in Florida, the recipient of a Target Library Makeover. Announced on the Oprah Winfrey show, the Target program will provide new furniture, computers, and 2,000 books, benefitting nearly 1,700 students.
