TCF Bank Stadium: University of Minnesota

The University of Minnesota began actively exploring a new on-campus Gopher football stadium in 2003. Fundraising began immediately and the result is located on the East Bank of the Twin Cities campus, – the 50,805-seat TCF Bank Stadium, designed by Populous as the new home for Golden Gopher Football.

It is just the 6th on-campus football stadium of its size to be built in the last 50 years.

Of further note, the Stadium has been awarded LEED® Silver Certification established by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and verified by the Green Building Certification Institute. With this designation,
TCF Bank Stadium becomes the first LEED certified new football stadium in the country.

Working closely with architects HOK/Populous and interior designers at Studio Hive and The Alliance, Target Commercial Interiors provided furnishings in the 39 private suites, and the 2 large premium club suites.

It is our third successful venture in sports arenas (Arizona Diamondbacks baseball, Seattle Thunderbirds hockey); our next project in this growing business segment will be the opening of Target Field for the Minnesota Twins in the spring of 2010.
